Introduction

The KLD804 is an 80G radar level meter. It operates on the principle of frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) technology. The antenna of this meter emits a high-frequency frequency modulated radar signal, with the signal frequency increasing linearly. The emitted radar signal gets reflected by the medium being measured and is then received by the same antenna. Notably, the frequency difference between the transmitted signal frequency and the received signal frequency has a proportional relationship with the measured distance. By carrying out a fast Fourier transform (FFT) on the collected frequency difference signal, the frequency spectrum of the reflected echo can be acquired. Based on this frequency spectrum, the distance to the target to be measured can be computed.
