Principle and Application of Total Silver Analyzer
Silver is one of the micronutrients in human tissues. Trace amounts of silver are non toxic to humans. The WHO has established a safe level of less than 0.05 ppm for silver and a limit of 0.05 MGL for silver ions in drinking water. Principle: in the presence of Sodium lauryl sulfate, silver reacts with 3,5-Br2-PADAP in acetate buffer at ph 4.5-8.5 to form a stable red complex with 1:2 ratio, the absorbance of the complex is proportional to the silver content in the water sample. The silver content in the water sample is calculated by measuring the absorbance of the complex.
