Background: On July 20, 2021, Zhengzhou, Henan Province, was hit by an extremely rare torrential rainstorm. The rainstorm came with great force, and the rainfall far exceeded the normal level. A large amount of rain poured down in a short period. As the urban drainage system could not withstand the impact of such a huge volume of water, it quickly paralyzed. Rainwater accumulated rapidly in the streets and alleys of the city, submerging roads, bridges, throwing traffic into chaos, flooding numerous vehicles, inundating a large number of shops and residential houses, and severely damaging urban infrastructure. This disaster dealt a heavy blow to Zhengzhou. According to statistics, the direct economic loss reached as high as 40.9 billion yuan.

Requirements: Monitor drainage and water levels
Solution: Install KACISE ultrasonic level gauges within the drainage system. This type of level gauge can closely monitor the water levels in drainage pipes and pumping stations in real – time and with high precision. Once there is an abnormal upward trend in the water level, it can issue an early warning in a timely manner. With the data fed back by the level gauge, the staff can scientifically optimize the operation mode of the drainage pumping stations. During heavy downpours, based on the real – time water level information, the drainage power and flow rate of the pumping stations can be adjusted rationally to ensure that the drainage system can quickly and efficiently drain the accumulated water. This can greatly alleviate the pressure of urban waterlogging and reduce the economic losses and social impacts caused by waterlogging.
