Rainwater Harvesting System Solution

  • Kacise
  • Published: 2025-01-22
  • Updated: 2026-09-28

Why collect rainwater?

  • Environmental Protection: Rainwater harvesting reduces surface water runoff, helping to prevent soil erosion and alleviate the pressure on urban drainage systems.
  • Cost-Effective Choice: With a rainwater harvesting system, residents and businesses can reduce water bills, especially in areas with high water costs.
  • Water Conservation: By collecting rainwater, the reliance on municipal water supply can be significantly reduced, particularly in areas facing droughts or water scarcity.
  • Emergency Water Source: In emergencies, such as water source contamination or supply disruptions, collected rainwater can serve as an alternative water source.

Household rainwater collection System

Explanation:

  • 1  Collect rainwater from the roof.
  • 2  Preliminary filtration and sedimentation.
  • 3  Water tank.
  • 4  Suction pipe.
  • 5  Water pump.
  • 6  Filtration system and water pump.
  • 7  When the water tank is full, excess water will be discharged into the outdoor water body.

What can we do for you?

Real-time Water Tank Level Monitoring : In a rainwater harvesting system, level sensors play a crucial role in ensuring the system operates efficiently and reliably.

Automated Water Level Control: Level sensors continuously monitor the water level in the tank or storage reservoir. Based on the data collected by the sensors, the system can automatically adjust water intake, drainage, or stop water collection. For example, when the tank reaches the preset high water level, the system will automatically stop collecting rainwater to prevent overflow; when the water level is too low, the system can activate the pump or guide more rainwater into the tank.

Reduced Manual Intervention: After installing level sensors, the rainwater harvesting system can automatically make adjustments, reducing the need for manual intervention and ensuring stable operation. In traditional systems without sensors, water level monitoring typically relies on manual inspections and adjustments, which not only increases management costs but also makes the system prone to human error.

Data Feedback and Alerts: Data collected from level sensors can be fed back to the system management platform in real-time. When the water level is too high or too low, the system can trigger an alarm, notifying the user to take appropriate measures to avoid equipment damage or water waste. Some advanced systems can even send notifications about water level changes via SMS, mobile apps, or other methods.

Real-time Water Quality Monitoring:Water quality sensors play a vital role in rainwater harvesting systems, especially in ensuring that the collected rainwater meets safety standards before use, preventing contaminants from entering drinking water or other water sources. A major challenge of rainwater harvesting systems is ensuring the safety and hygiene of the water quality. Water quality sensors can continuously monitor changes in water quality and provide timely feedback, enabling corrective measures or filtration to be taken when necessary.

Real-time Monitoring: Water quality sensors can continuously monitor water quality parameters within the rainwater harvesting system, providing real-time feedback on changes in water quality. For example, they can track changes in water quality after rainfall and assess the concentration of contaminants in the water.

Early Warning System: By setting threshold values, water quality sensors can trigger warning signals when the water quality fails to meet standards, alerting operators to take action and preventing the use of degraded or substandard water.

Common water quality sensors include:

pH Sensor: Used to monitor the acidity or alkalinity of the water, ensuring that the water quality is neither too acidic nor too alkaline.

Turbidity Sensor: Measures the concentration of suspended particles in the water using optical principles, used to monitor the turbidity of the water.

Conductivity Sensor: Measures the ion concentration in the water, helping to infer the content of dissolved substances, and aids in determining the salinity and contamination of dissolved substances in the water.

Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Sensor: Used to monitor the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the water, which indirectly reflects the biological activity and overall water quality.

Total Suspended Solids (TSS) Sensor: Detects solid suspended matter in the water, helping to assess water turbidity and the concentration of solid pollutants.

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) Sensor: Primarily used to detect the concentration of organic pollutants in the water, helping to evaluate the degree of water contamination.

Ammonia Nitrogen (NH₃-N) Sensor: Used to monitor the concentration of ammonia nitrogen in the water, as high levels may indicate organic pollution in the water.
